1. Scope and contact
Glowboard is an LED banner and large-text app for iPhone and iPad, developed by Vonzen. This policy covers the app, this website and information you send to us for support. In this policy, “we” means the developer of Glowboard. You can reach us at vonzenappstudio@gmail.com.
You do not need a Glowboard account to create or display a banner. We do not ask for your name, phone number, contacts or precise location to use the editor. Local content is separate from the usage events and purchase information sent to service providers. A randomly generated identifier is still capable of linking events from the same installation; it does not make those events completely anonymous.
2. Banners and local data
Glowboard stores saved banners, their names and timestamps, text, style and playback settings, recent messages, editor drafts, selected use cases and app preferences in the app’s local files or settings. It also stores local state for onboarding, feature guidance and rating requests. This information lets you reopen your work and keep your preferred setup.
The current app does not upload your banner text, saved library or drafts to a Glowboard server, and does not offer a Glowboard cloud account or library synchronisation. Device backups may include some app data according to your Apple settings. Text you show on screen can be seen or photographed by people around you.
3. Microphone and music
Microphone permission
If you start a microphone-reactive preview or playback, Glowboard requests microphone permission and analyses the sound level and frequency information on your device to animate the lights. Microphone samples are used in memory and discarded. Glowboard does not record, save, upload or include that microphone audio in exported files.
You can stop sound-reactive playback or its preview and revoke microphone access in iOS Settings. Denying permission leaves the other banner features available; effects that depend on the microphone will not react to sound.
Background music and imported files
Bundled background music is included with the app. When you choose an audio file with the system file picker, Glowboard copies that selected file into its local music library for playback and, where supported, inclusion in a video export. It does not scan your other files or send the imported audio or its filename to our analytics service. The imported copy is marked as excluded from device backup.
You can remove imported tracks using the editor’s music list. Removing the app’s copy does not delete the original file. If you select a file from iCloud Drive or another file provider, that provider may download it under its own account settings and privacy practices.
4. Exports and sharing
MP4 and GIF exports are rendered locally. An export contains the banner content you selected; supported MP4 exports may also contain the selected background music. The app creates a temporary output file and removes a completed temporary export when its export panel closes. Copies you save or share remain in their destinations.
Saving an export to Photos requests permission to add media. This does not grant Glowboard access to read your existing photo library. You can decline or change that permission in iOS Settings.
When you use the system share sheet, the selected file is passed to the app or destination you choose. That destination handles it under its own terms and privacy policy. Glowboard does not upload exports as a separate background service. Its analytics can record the share destination reported by the system, or cancellation, but not the exported file itself.
5. Usage analytics
Glowboard sends a limited set of app events over HTTPS to PostHog’s US-hosted service to understand which features work well and where people encounter problems. Events may be sent during use and when the app moves to the background. This is app analytics; this website does not use PostHog.
The app generates a random installation identifier and saves it locally. Each event includes that identifier, an event timestamp, app version, system language and, when available, the region set in your device’s locale. The region is a system setting, not a GPS reading or an IP-based location lookup. Event details include:
- Onboarding steps and the use-case categories you select.
- Playback source, message character count, rendering style, direction, duration and whether sound features are enabled.
- Template identifiers and categories, editor tabs, use of Pro previews and whether an edited setup uses Pro features.
- Export format, requested or completed duration, resolution, processing time and success or failure, plus the reported share destination.
- Paywall entry point and feature, the type of purchase plan selected, purchase success and restore results.
These events do not contain your message text, banner names, imported filenames, audio, exported media, email address or payment details. The integration does not use automatic screen capture, session replay, advertising identifiers or person profiles, and disables IP-based location enrichment. Network servers still receive the IP address necessary to accept a connection.
We use the resulting reports to improve the app and its purchase flow. The current app does not have a separate analytics opt-out switch. You can contact us about an objection or deletion request as described in section 10. See PostHog’s privacy policy for its processing practices.
6. Purchases
Apple handles App Store payments. Glowboard uses RevenueCat to retrieve available plans, check purchase status, validate access to Pro features and restore eligible purchases. Purchase services can connect when the app checks access at launch, even if you have not started a new purchase.
The integration uses a RevenueCat-generated app-user identifier rather than a Glowboard account or your email address. RevenueCat processes transaction or receipt information, purchase history and entitlement status for these functions and purchase reports. We do not receive your card number or bank credentials from Apple. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy and its Apple app privacy guidance.
7. Website and support
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. It has no visitor-analytics scripts, advertising pixels, third-party fonts or application cookies, and does not save information in your browser’s local storage. GitHub receives connection information and may retain hosting and security logs under the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
The website’s interactive banner preview renders the text you enter in your browser. It does not send that text to us, save it for a later visit, access your microphone or request Photos permission. Preview colours, styles and interface themes also apply only to the current page. Following a download link opens Apple’s App Store, which operates under Apple’s own privacy practices.
The in-app contact link opens an email draft with app version, build number, operating-system version, device model and app language. You can edit these details before sending. Opening the draft does not send it to us. If you send an email, we receive your address, message and any attachments, and use them to respond to your request. Please send only information needed to explain the issue.
Glowboard does not add a dedicated crash-reporting SDK. Apple may provide app statistics and diagnostic reports according to your device’s analytics-sharing choices. Those reports are separate from the PostHog events described above. You can review Apple’s App Analytics & Privacy information and the Analytics & Improvements settings on your device.
8. Purposes and providers
We process the information described here to operate the relevant features, administer paid access, understand product usage, answer support requests, prevent abuse and comply with applicable obligations. Where a law requires a legal basis, providing requested features and purchases may rely on performing our agreement with you; limited product analytics, service security and support may rely on legitimate interests where permitted; and required disclosures may rely on legal obligations. Where consent is legally required, it must be obtained separately. An operating-system permission does not serve as consent to unrelated analytics.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, show in-app advertisements or use your activity for advertising across other companies’ apps and websites. Information is shared with the providers needed for the functions described above. We may also disclose information we hold when legally required or reasonably necessary and legally permitted to address fraud, a rights complaint or a threat to safety.
PostHog’s configured endpoint is in the United States. Apple, RevenueCat, GitHub and email providers may process information in other countries as well. Applicable contracts, provider terms and legal safeguards govern that processing. We do not promise that every provider stores all information in your country.
9. Retention and security
Local banners and preferences remain until you remove them using available app controls, delete the app’s data, or the operating system removes them. Exported files, original imported files and device backups have separate lifetimes. Imported music copies are excluded from backup; other app data may be included. Restoring a purchase restores eligible access, not your local banner library.
Support correspondence and service records are retained for the purposes described here and applicable legal requirements. Analytics and purchase records also depend on the respective service’s retention settings and obligations. Removing local data does not automatically erase previously sent analytics, purchase records or support email. Contact us to request deletion of information within our control.
Remote requests described in this policy use HTTPS. Local files are kept in the app’s storage area and benefit from the protections provided by iOS. These measures reduce risk but cannot guarantee that a device, network, email account or service will always be secure.
10. Choices and rights
You can delete saved banners and recent entries through the available library and recent-item controls, remove imported music, decline microphone or Photos permissions, and choose whether to save or share an export. You can stop using the app to prevent new app usage events; this does not erase records already sent. Deleting Glowboard does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Depending on your location and the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a portable copy of personal information, restrict processing, object to processing, withdraw consent where it applies, or complain to a data-protection authority. Email vonzenappstudio@gmail.com to make a request. We will respond within the deadlines required by applicable law and may ask for information needed to verify and locate the relevant records.
We cannot remotely read or erase files stored only on your device. Because the app does not associate its analytics identifier with a name or email address, we may be unable to find an installation’s events from an email address alone. We will explain these limits and any legal reason for retaining information. Apple and other independent providers may need to handle requests concerning their own records.
11. Minors and changes
Glowboard is a general-purpose creative tool, rather than a service designed specifically for young children. Minors should use it with the guidance and consent required from a parent or guardian under local law, particularly for purchases and public sharing. If you believe a child has sent us personal information that should not have been collected, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action for records we control.
We will revise this policy when information practices change and update the date at the top. Material changes will receive any additional notice or consent required by applicable law. Questions can be sent to vonzenappstudio@gmail.com. The Terms of service describe the conditions for using Glowboard.
